Betterment Christian Coach — Terms & Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Betterment Christian Coach (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Betterment Christian Coach is an AI-powered guidance and conversation platform operated by Betterment Christian Coach. The Service provides access to AI conversation agents (including Betterment AI Coach) that offer supportive, faith-based conversation and general guidance in the encouraging style of a coach, grounded in Christian principles. The Service may include voice conversations, text chat, goal tracking, and session history features.

The words “Coach” and “Coaches” (and related terms) describe the supportive, conversational style of the Service. They do not mean that you are receiving licensed counseling, medical, mental-health, legal, or financial services, and — unless an individual coach is expressly labeled “Human” — every coach on the Service is an AI program, not a human being and not a licensed professional.

3. AI Support — Not a Licensed or Professional Service

Important — please read carefully. The Service provides supportive, faith-based conversation and general encouragement from artificial-intelligence agents. It is not licensed counseling, medical, mental-health, legal, or financial services. Betterment AI Coach is an AI program — not a licensed professional, and not a human being (unless a coach is expressly labeled “Human”). It does not diagnose conditions, prescribe or provide treatment, or give medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and it does not replace the advice of a qualified, licensed professional. The Service is offered as something like professional counseling or advice — not as professional counseling or advice itself.

Always seek the advice of a qualified, licensed professional for any question about a medical or mental-health condition, a legal matter, or a financial decision. Never disregard or delay seeking professional advice because of something you read or heard through the Service.

If you are experiencing a crisis or emergency, contact a licensed professional or emergency services immediately — for example, in the US, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or call 911. Do not use the Service for emergencies.

Your acknowledgment. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that: (a) you are interacting with AI — not a licensed professional and, unless expressly labeled “Human,” not a human being; (b) the Service is provided for general support, encouragement, reflection, and educational purposes only, and is like — but is not — professional counseling or advice or any licensed service; (c) you will not rely on the Service as a substitute for professional care or advice; and (d) you are solely responsible for the decisions you make and will seek qualified professional help when it is needed.

4. User Accounts

You must create an account to access personalized features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate and complete registration information.

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

5. AI Limitations and Accuracy

AI-generated responses are produced by automated systems and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Betterment Christian Coach does not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of any AI-generated content. You should exercise independent judgment when acting on any information provided through the Service.

Voice conversations are processed in real time using third-party AI providers. Audio data is sent to those providers for transcription and response generation and is subject to their respective terms.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
• Harass, threaten, or harm other users or staff.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service.
• Share your account credentials with others.
• Submit false, misleading, or harmful content through the Service.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, and technology comprising the Service are the property of Betterment Christian Coach or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission.

Content you submit (messages, goals, notes) remains yours. By submitting content, you grant Betterment Christian Coach a limited license to process, store, and display it solely to provide the Service to you.

8. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Service, you consent to those practices.

9. Billing, Subscriptions, and Cancellation

The Service offers a free tier and optional paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly, unless stated otherwise) through our third-party payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Betterment Christian Coach, through Stripe, to charge your payment method the applicable recurring fee plus any taxes.

Automatic renewal. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. It will continue to renew unless and until you cancel.

Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from your account (Manage Billing). Cancellation stops future charges; your paid features remain active through the end of the current billing period, after which you are not charged again. There is no cancellation fee.

Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods or unused time. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at privacy@bettermentchristiancoach.com and we will review it in good faith.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices from time to time; any change applies to future billing periods only, and we will provide notice as required by law before a change takes effect.

10. Termination

Betterment Christian Coach may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Betterment Christian Coach and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Service — even if Betterment Christian Coach has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or (b) $100 USD.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date above or by presenting the updated Terms in the consent banner. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance.
